Passing and Climbing Lanes

Some roads have special lanes that are called the climbing lane. These lanes let larger and slower vehicles run on the right-hand lane to allow the faster cars to pass safely on the left. Drivers looking to pass the slower ones should see a sign in advance at the right moment when it is already safe to pass. And then, the next sign should warn them as to when the lane will be ending soon.

This will allow the driver on the right-hand lane to start merging safely with the ones on the left.

Any time you are passing another vehicle, it does not give you the right to speed. The purpose of changing lanes is to move around a slow moving vehicle. Any vehicle moving along at the posted speed limit means we need to remain as patient as possible. It does not give us the right to be aggressive.

If another driver wants to pass you, once they pull out from behind you and begins to overtake, you may want to assist them by easing off the accelerator slightly to make their pass quicker and safer, especially if any oncoming vehicles are approaching you.
